The Safety Harbor Sun is a cooperative journal of Safety Harbor, Florida. Our mission is to be a community-led, community-produced, community-supported sustainable local news and information source for residents and visitors. The Safety Harbor Sun is nonprofit and nonpartisan.

Safety Harbor is a small town of almost 17,000 people situated in the middle of Florida’s most densely-populated county. It is a coastal town, tucked up to the northwest corner of Tampa Bay. Although Safety Harbor is near the heat and hustle of beaches, bigger cities and Florida’s famed tourist kitsch, it retains a usually-peaceful, small-town feel. Its shady, walkable streets radiate with charm and chicanery.

Here, we will provide an equitable forum for productive community dialogue as well as opportunities for residents to participate in journalism or journalism education. We will consistently adhere to the tenants of the Society for Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics and as such will:

• SEEK TRUTH AND REPORT IT • MINIMIZE HARM • ACT INDEPENDENTLY • BE ACCOUNTABLE AND TRANSPARENT •

Suggestions, comments, questions are welcome via email at newsroom@safetyharborsun.com or through our Facebook page.
